The tension between Nigerian nightlife entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, and Afrobeat star Burna Boy has escalated dramatically, with allegations of surveillance and veiled threats dominating social media.
Cubana Chief Priest, a prominent figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry, took to Instagram to warn Burna Boy to steer clear of his family after claiming the artist recorded a video of his Ikoyi neighborhood.
In a strongly worded post, Cubana Chief Priest accused Burna Boy of driving past his home in Ikoyi, Lagos, and sharing a recording on Instagram accompanied by an eye emoji. According to him, the emoji implied that Burna Boy was keeping tabs on his family.
“This na my neighbourhood for Ikoyi,” he wrote, reposting Burna Boy’s video. “You drive pass my crib recording with eye symbol. You are watching me to shoot me abi or abduct my family.”
The nightlife mogul didn’t stop there. He declared he had informed the Nigeria Police Force about the alleged threat to his family’s safety. “Nigeria Police Force already have the intel so I’m ready,” he added.
Cubana Chief Priest also issued a warning to Burna Boy, referencing his Aba roots: “I be Aba boy, we fight to finish. All your men shall fall that day if you cross my lane.”
The conflict between the two entertainment heavyweights stems from an ongoing social media feud. Sources suggest that Cubana Chief Priest has been trolling Burna Boy online after the singer allegedly threw shade at him in an earlier post.
Burna Boy, known for his controversial statements and public spats, has yet to officially respond to the accusations. However, his initial video and the accompanying emoji appear to have triggered serious concerns for Cubana Chief Priest, who described the act as “childish.”
“Dog wey dey bite no dey bark,” Cubana Chief Priest wrote, implying that serious threats don’t come with warnings. “Make shaa nothing happen to my family,” he concluded.
This is not the first time Burna Boy has found himself embroiled in public disputes. The Grammy-winning artist, known for his hits like Last Last and Ye, has had his share of controversies, including altercations with fellow musicians and heated exchanges with fans.
Similarly, Cubana Chief Priest is no stranger to online drama. As a nightlife entrepreneur and influencer with millions of followers, he often uses his platform to engage with fans and critics alike. His close ties to celebrities and his bold personality have made him a recurring figure in entertainment headlines.
Cubana Chief Priest’s emphasis on Ikoyi as the location of his home also raised eyebrows. He explicitly stated, “Na Ikoyi be this. Here no be Ikate,” possibly alluding to the difference in perceived status or security between the upscale neighborhoods.
This subtle dig could be interpreted as a challenge to Burna Boy, who is known for his street credibility but is also part of the elite Lagos social circle.
The public has taken to social media to voice their opinions on the matter. While some fans have called for peace between the two celebrities, others have fueled the drama with memes and speculations.
Cubana Chief Priest’s decision to involve the police suggests he is treating the matter seriously. If the allegations of surveillance or threats are proven, the situation could escalate into a legal battle.
Under Nigerian law, threatening or stalking an individual could result in criminal charges. While Burna Boy has not directly responded to the accusations, his video may be scrutinized if the matter reaches the authorities.
As the drama unfolds, fans and observers are left wondering whether this feud will escalate further or if the two celebrities will find a way to resolve their differences.
For now, one thing is clear: Cubana Chief Priest is not taking any chances with his family’s safety. “Make shaa nothing happen to my family,” he reiterated, leaving no doubt about his readiness to defend his home and loved ones.
