A former Governor of Oyo State and the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, on Tuesday, put a lie to what former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande, regarding the assassination of former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bola Ige.
It could be recalled that over the weekend, Chief Akande raised fresh concerns about the unresolved assassination of Chief Ige, suggesting that Ladoja may have crucial information regarding the murder.
Speaking during an interview with journalists at his Ondo Street residence in Ibadan, the state capital, Ladoja stated that Chief Akande lied against him.
Ladoja said, “Chief Bola Ige was assassinated on December 23, 2001. I became governor on May 29, 2003, which was 18 months before my tenure began.
“The case was even prosecuted by the Supreme Court. Chief Akande lied against me, and he is old. This is not his first time. People say he lies. Even Baba Adebanjo said he lied in his book.
“We are all deeply saddened by Ige’s death. We are all concerned about his murder; I was very close to Chief Bola Ige when he was alive.”
Stop Paying Touts for Illegal Parking, LASG Warns Motorists
The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, has warned motorists to desist from making illicit payments to touts for illegal parking on bridges and other open spaces across Lagos State.
This directive comes in response to reports indicating that private vehicle owners have been engaging in transactions with street urchins for unauthorized parking privileges at various locations within the metropolis.
Hon. Giwa underscored the imperative of strict adherence to government-installed road signage and urban furniture, which explicitly delineate designated “No Parking” zones.
He emphasized that noncompliance contributes significantly to congestion and impedes the seamless flow of traffic.
Highlighting notorious areas plagued by illegal parking, he referenced locations such as Ebute-Ero, Ejalonibu, Adeniji-Adele, Oyingbo, Oworonsoki, Iyana-Ipaja and Medical Road near Computer Village, among others, where vehicles are indiscriminately stationed on bridges and other restricted spaces, thereby exacerbating vehicular gridlock.
Reaffirming the government’s stance on maintaining order on Lagos roads, Hon. Giwa reiterated that the administration will not remain passive while such unlawful practices persist. He further cautioned that motorists attempting to validate their infractions by citing payments to touts will face stringent enforcement measures.
The Lagos State Government, therefore, urges all motorists to comply with established traffic regulations and refrain from patronizing unscrupulous elements who exploit public spaces for personal gain.
