    Share

Gunmen have abducted a petrol station owner, Alhaji Abbas, and his manager, Abubakar Issa, in Gbugbu town, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State. The incident occurred last Friday around 7:20 p.m. along the Gbugbu–Ndeji Road, as the victims were returning home from work.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailants, who were armed and riding motorcycles, shot into the air to scare away onlookers before forcing the victims to stop. They then kidnapped the two men and set their vehicle on fire before escaping into a nearby forest.

This is the second time Alhaji Abbas has been targeted by kidnappers, having previously escaped a similar attempt.

The kidnappers have since contacted the businessman’s family, demanding a ransom of ₦200 million for their release.

Local residents are now calling on security agencies and the Kwara State Government to urgently intervene and tackle the rising wave of insecurity in Edu Local Government, which has been a concern for some time.
