A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Yola, Adamawa State, has ordered the remand of three men accused of killing one Thomas Godwin in Zamfara.

The suspects—Godwin Chakukuyada, Ibrahim Bakari, and Danlami Ali—were arraigned on Monday for criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide, while a fourth suspect, Stephen Peter, is still on the run.

According to police reports, the victim was attacked on his way from Fadama Rake to Kala’a by a group of violent political thugs, allegedly sponsored by an unnamed influential figure in the state. The attackers reportedly beat him until he lost consciousness. He was later rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Hong, where he was confirmed dead.

The charges against the suspects are based on Sections 60 and 191 of the Adamawa State Penal Code Law (2018 as amended).

During the court session, all three accused pleaded not guilty. The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Uwani Danladi, ruled that the suspects be kept in a correctional facility while investigations continue, especially since one suspect has yet to be arrested.
