Fuel Price Jumps as Dangote Increases Ex-Depot Rate to N880/Litre

    Share

Filling stations across Lagos on Saturday adjusted their pump prices upward, following a hike in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, by Dangote Refinery late Friday.

Dangote Refinery, which has become a major supplier of refined petrol in the country, increased its ex-depot price from N825 to N880 per litre — a N55 rise. The move prompted a swift response from members of the Major Energy Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN), the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), NNPC Retail, and the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN).

As of Saturday morning, NNPC filling stations which had previously sold petrol at N870 per litre adjusted their price to N910 per litre. Other marketers, including Dangote’s key partners such as MRS, Ardova, and Heyden, also increased their prices accordingly.

Despite the hike, online fuel tracking platform *petroleumprice.ng* indicated that Dangote’s N880 ex-depot price remains the cheapest among major suppliers. Other suppliers listed include Aiteo at N893 per litre, Bovas at N910, Rainoil at N920, Ever at N920, and WOSBAB also at N920.

This latest increase comes amid ongoing concerns over rising inflation, fuel affordability, and the broader cost of living in Nigeria.
