Acting Is Tougher Than Music – Ayra Starr

    Share

Grammy-nominated Nigerian singer, Ayra Starr, has shared her experience after making her acting debut in the upcoming Hollywood movie, Children of Blood and Bone.

In an interview with CBS, Ayra said working on the film made her appreciate how much effort actors put into their craft, admitting that acting is far more demanding than she expected.

“It’s my first movie ever,” she said. “I’m used to being a singer and diva on set, but with acting, it’s not about you. You have to be on set on time, work hard, and follow military time. I now respect actors so much more — their stamina is amazing.”

Ayra revealed that although she’s always loved acting, this was her first time performing in front of a camera without singing. She described the experience as “amazing” and said she learned a lot from the cast and crew.

The movie, Children of Blood and Bone, is based on the bestselling novel by Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi. It features a star-studded cast including Idris Elba, Viola Davis, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Cynthia Erivo, Damson Idris, and Thuso Mbedu. The film is directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood and is set to be released by Paramount Pictures on January 15, 2027.
