Kanu Mourns Loss of Peter Rufai and Diogo Jota

Former Nigerian football star, Kanu Nwankwo, has expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of two football legends—former Super Eagles goalkeeper Peter Rufai and Liverpool forward Diogo Jota.

Rufai passed away on Thursday after a long illness, while Jota died in a car accident in Spain alongside his brother Andre Silva.

Taking to his social media account, X, Kanu described the events as a “dark day in football.” He prayed for the souls of both players to rest in peace.

Kanu wrote, “We lost an African Legend, Peter Rufai. May his soul rest well, Amen.” He also expressed his condolences to Rufai’s family and mourned Jota’s death, saying, “Sad sad sad RIP Diogo Jota.”

Peter Rufai was a celebrated goalkeeper for Nigeria, remembered for his contributions to the Super Eagles. Diogo Jota was a rising star at Liverpool, loved by fans around the world. Their deaths have sent shockwaves through the football community globally.
