Nigerian activist Aisha Yesufu has declared that she will work against any presidential ticket in the 2027 election that features Peter Obi as a running mate.
In a recent video posted on X, Yesufu said she opposes the idea of Obi being a deputy candidate, arguing that women and capable leaders like Obi are often pushed into secondary roles in politics. She believes Obi should run for president, not as a running mate.
“Yes, if Obi becomes a running mate to anyone, I will work against that ticket,” she said. Yesufu’s statement comes amid growing speculation around the 2027 presidential race, where Peter Obi has already announced his intention to contest for the top job.
Aisha Yesufu’s position highlights concerns about political marginalization and the common practice of relegating strong candidates to deputy roles, especially women or less influential politicians.
