APC Leads Early in Lagos LG Polls Amid Low Turnout

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken an early lead in the ongoing local government elections held across Lagos State on Saturday.

As collation continues in all 57 local government areas (LGAs) and local council development areas (LCDAs), early results from polling units indicate that the APC is ahead in most locations.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu voted at polling unit 006, St. Stevens Nursery and Primary School, in the Adeniji-Adele area. He spoke to journalists afterward and admitted there were delays in starting the process in some places due to movement restrictions, but noted that the exercise was largely peaceful.

Despite the calm atmosphere, voter turnout was visibly low in many parts of the state. Observers reported sparse participation across polling stations in areas such as Yaba, Somolu, Bariga, Ikeja, and Agege — all of which are traditionally APC strongholds and where the party is currently leading.

Early unofficial figures show that APC is ahead in both chairmanship and councillorship races, with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in second place and the Labour Party (LP) coming third.
