The Taraba State Police Command has successfully foiled a kidnap attempt and rescued 17 passengers travelling along the Wukari highway.

According to a statement released on Sunday by the state Police Public Relations Officer, James Lashan Saminu, the incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. on Friday, July 12. Armed men suspected to be kidnappers intercepted a white Toyota bus belonging to People’s Choice Company, with plate number 26G-17TR, near the Federal University Wukari.

The bus was on a long journey from Enugu to Yola, Adamawa State, when the attackers struck.

Upon receiving a distress call, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Wukari, Anthony Jerry, quickly mobilised a police team and collaborated with nearby military personnel. Their swift action forced the kidnappers to abandon their victims and escape into the bush.
