The Kano State Government has launched a full investigation into the tragic death of two students of Government Boarding Secondary School, Bichi.

The deceased students, Hamza Idris-Tofawa and Umar Yusuf-Dungurawa, reportedly died after they were allegedly attacked and beaten by fellow students using metal objects known locally as “Gwale-Gwale.”

Preliminary findings suggest the incident happened as a form of punishment from senior students, leading to the deaths of the victims.

The State Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna Makoda, through the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Bashir Baffa, said the state is deeply saddened and has ordered a full and transparent investigation to ensure justice.
