The former governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, has added a new member to his family by marrying a fourth wife, Hiqma. The private wedding ceremony took place last Saturday in Abuja and was attended by close family and allies.
Hafiza Bello, the third wife, announced the marriage on her Instagram account, sharing a video from the ceremony. She thanked God for the new addition and warmly welcomed Hiqma to the family.
“Alhamdulillah, our family just got a little bigger! A warm welcome to our new family member, Mrs Hiqma Yahaya Bello,” Hafiza wrote.
Before this, Yahaya Bello was married to three wives: Amina Oyiza, Rashida Bello, and Hafiza Bello. The news has sparked various reactions on social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter), with some users expressing support while others questioned the practice of polygamy.
Yahaya Bello, known for his political career and strong influence in Kogi State, remains a prominent figure in Nigerian politics. His choice to marry a fourth wife has reignited conversations about polygamy, culture, and family values in Nigeria.
Twitter Reactions:
“Congrats to the Bello family! May peace and happiness continue to reign. #FamilyFirst”
“Polygamy is a cultural practice but it should be by choice, not pressure. Wishing them the best.”
“Another wife? Nigerians deserve leaders who focus on governance, not adding wives.”
“Interesting how some celebrate, while others debate the ethics. Nigeria is diverse!”
