A serving member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Shuaibu Adamu, was killed by suspected hoodlums on Sunday night in Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to residents, the tragic incident happened around 8 p.m. behind the AA Rano filling station along the Abuja–Lokoja highway. Adamu, who was riding home on his motorcycle after visiting a relative, was attacked by unknown assailants who struck his head with a hammer and escaped with his bike.

Suleiman Ibrahim, a resident of Gwargwada, said passersby later recognised the victim and quickly informed his family. He was rushed to a hospital but was confirmed dead on Monday night.

The late corps member, a native of Abaji Area Council, was buried on Tuesday in his hometown. He was the son of Alhaji Salihu Kankamba, the district head of Unguwar Sabon-Tasha in Abaji.
