The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), to October 10, 2025. The court will deliver its ruling on the no-case submission filed by Kanu’s lawyers.

The adjournment was announced during Friday’s court sitting due to the upcoming judicial vacation, which will last several weeks.

Kanu’s defense team filed the no-case submission after the Federal Government closed its case last month. They argued that the prosecution failed to prove a strong case against Kanu. Both sides have now submitted written arguments as ordered by the court.

The October 10 date is set for the court to decide whether there is enough evidence for Kanu to face trial or if the charges should be dismissed.

Nnamdi Kanu has been in detention since 2021 after being brought back from Kenya under controversial circumstances. His trial has drawn attention across Nigeria and internationally, with many calling for fairness and respect for the rule of law.
