A 25-year-old man, Micheal Ikuedowoni, has died after he was allegedly stabbed by his girlfriend, Augustina Mowari, during a domestic fight in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The tragic incident happened in the one-room apartment where the couple lived together. According to eyewitnesses, the pair had frequent arguments over infidelity, but things turned deadly over the weekend when Augustina accused Micheal of cheating on her with other women in the area.
During the quarrel, Augustina reportedly grabbed a pair of scissors and stabbed Micheal in the leg.
Sources said he was rushed to a nearby medical centre for treatment and later discharged, but his condition worsened at home. His leg became swollen, and he was taken back to the hospital on Sunday night, where he was confirmed dead.
Police spokesperson in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident and stated that the suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody. He added that the case will be charged to court after investigations are completed.
The incident has left residents of the Okitipupa community in shock and mourning.
