    Share

The Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered the remand of two TikTok content creators, Saheed Jamiu Osama and Uyime Godwin Udoekwere, for allegedly accusing Omowunmi Aloba, the widow of late Nigerian singer Mohbad, of being involved in his death.

The duo reportedly staged a protest holding placards with bold accusations such as: “Wunmi Killed Mohbad! Period! E No Go Better For Wunmi!” The protest video went viral on TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), sparking outrage and debates across Nigeria.

Presiding over the matter, Justice Ibrahim Kala arraigned the defendants on charges of conspiracy, cyberstalking, and defamation. The charges stem from their viral social media content and public display, which prosecutors described as character assassination and incitement.

The court has ordered that both individuals be remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre until the next hearing, scheduled for September 25, 2025.

Legal experts say the case could set an important precedent for digital conduct in Nigeria, especially as social media continues to influence public opinion and activism.
