The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and Trade Union Congress (TUC) in Taraba State have declared an indefinite strike beginning Monday, August 11, 2025.

The decision was announced in a joint statement signed by NLC Chairman Peter Jediel and TUC Chairman Abasu Sule, following a resolution reached at the Joint State Administrative Council meeting held on August 6.

The unions said the strike was prompted by what they described as “illegality” in the operations of the state’s Biometric Data Capture Committee. They accused the committee of carrying out irregular activities that have negatively affected civil servants.

According to the statement, the state government failed to address their concerns or respond to earlier ultimatums, leaving workers with no option but to embark on the strike.

“All workers, civil society groups, and the general public are hereby notified to prepare for the industrial action. We urge everyone to stock their homes with necessary provisions,” the labour leaders said.
