At least four Nigerian soldiers have been killed and five others injured after Boko Haram terrorists launched a deadly attack on a military post in Ngamdu, located along the Damaturu–Maiduguri Road in Kaga Local Government Area of Borno State.

The attack, which happened around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, was repelled by troops of Operation Hadin Kai after a fierce gun battle, according to a statement released by the military spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Uba Sani.

“Troops of Operation Hadin Kai successfully repelled a coordinated terrorist attack in the Ngamdu general area, following a swift response by forces on ground and reinforcement elements from 29 Task Force Brigade,” the statement said.

The terrorists reportedly came well-armed, using rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs), armed drones, and command-initiated improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in their attempt to overrun the military base.

Despite the loss of four soldiers and the injuries sustained by five others, the troops were able to stand their ground and force the attackers to retreat. The military said the terrorists suffered “heavy casualties,” although the number of insurgents killed was not disclosed.
