The Office of Education Quality Assurance is a key agency under the Lagos State Ministry of Education, tasked with supervising both public and private schools to ensure compliance with established educational standards. As DG, Dr Ogunmuyiwa will oversee accreditation, inspection, and evaluation processes across schools, ensuring that students receive high-quality education. He will also spearhead teacher development programs, review school curricula, and advise the government on policy improvements.

In addition to administrative duties, the DG is expected to facilitate training sessions for school managers, teachers, and civil servants involved in the education sector. By ensuring that education administrators are well-equipped to manage their institutions, OEQA aims to enhance overall student performance and school effectiveness across Lagos.

Dr Ogunmuyiwa’s appointment comes at a time when Lagos State is prioritizing education reform, focusing on improving school infrastructure, teacher quality, and student outcomes. The government has invested heavily in both primary and secondary education in recent years, and the new DG is expected to play a pivotal role in sustaining these initiatives.

Beyond his administrative record, Dr Ogunmuyiwa is an active member of several professional education bodies and has contributed significantly to teacher development programs and community-focused educational initiatives. He is known for mentoring young professionals and civil servants, sharing knowledge and facilitating capacity-building workshops for government agencies and private organisations alike.

His leadership is expected to strengthen the state’s education system by providing structured mentorship for school administrators, promoting innovative teaching methods, and enhancing school monitoring processes. According to insiders, his experience in both policy implementation and school supervision will be crucial in meeting Lagos State’s ambitious education targets.

Congratulating the new DG, Mr Bode Agoro expressed confidence in Dr Ogunmuyiwa’s ability to elevate the standards of education in Lagos. “I am confident that Ogunmuyiwa’s appointment will further enhance the quality of education in Lagos State,” Agoro said. “I urge him to continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our education system remains a model for others to emulate.”

Over the years, OEQA has been instrumental in elevating Lagos State’s education profile. The state consistently records high enrolment rates and strong student performance in national exams, partly due to the office’s strict supervision and quality control measures.

The appointment of Dr Ogunmuyiwa is seen as a continuation of Lagos State’s commitment to maintaining high educational standards, ensuring that students in the state benefit from well-managed schools, qualified teachers, and effective administrative oversight.

While Lagos State has made notable progress in education, challenges remain. Issues such as overcrowded classrooms, insufficient learning materials, and varying teaching standards across public and private schools continue to pose problems. The new DG is expected to implement policies that address these challenges and introduce innovative solutions to improve teaching and learning outcomes.
