Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd), has narrated how he believes divine intervention played a crucial role in his rise to national leadership, saying God elevated him despite overwhelming challenges.

Musa shared the testimony during a recent church service at Conquerors Global Assembly in Abuja, which he attended with his wife. During the service, the minister expressed appreciation to the church’s founder, Bishop David Abioye, and his wife, praying for the continued growth and expansion of their ministry.

Addressing the congregation, Musa encouraged worshippers to remain hopeful, highlighting that God is ever-present and faithful to those who trust Him. “Because we serve a living God, He will never give up on us,” the minister said.

Reflecting on the events of the past year, Musa recounted that there were moments when it seemed like circumstances were against him and his colleagues. “Even when the enemy thought they were putting us down, they did not know God was going to lift us up,” he said.

The minister explained that adversaries often conspire in their “small minds” to bring down those who are pursuing progress, but with God as a pillar, victory is certain. “In their small mind they conspired and thought they had won. But as long as you have God as your pillar, you will win,” Musa added.

During the service, Musa described Bishop Abioye as a close associate whose guidance and spiritual leadership have been a source of encouragement. He said that challenges and trials are essential for personal and national growth, noting that difficulties build strength and resilience.

“If you are never challenged, you can never improve in life. As Nigerians, we know we are strong, but we are stronger together with God Almighty. Nigerians are winners. We must continue to pray for our leaders and our country,” he said.

Gen. Musa also cautioned against constantly portraying the nation in a negative light, explaining that such narratives could hinder development and unity. According to him, “If you continue to talk down on your country, you don’t mean well.” He urged Nigerians to focus on constructive dialogue and solutions rather than dwelling on problems.

The Defence Minister stressed that Christian faith should be reflected in actions, not just words. True influence, he said, comes from living out one’s beliefs in daily life, showing integrity, compassion, and responsibility.

“Faith is not just about attending church or speaking in tongues. It is about how you live and what you contribute to society. Your actions should reflect your beliefs,” Musa told congregants.

The minister’s testimony comes at a time when Nigeria continues to face multiple challenges, including security concerns, economic pressures, and social unrest in some regions. Musa’s emphasis on divine guidance and personal responsibility aligns with calls from other leaders for Nigerians to remain united and proactive in addressing the nation’s problems.

The Defence Minister’s visit to Conquerors Global Assembly also highlights the increasing engagement of national leaders with faith-based communities in Nigeria. Religious institutions play a significant role in shaping public opinion, promoting social cohesion, and providing moral guidance to citizens. Leaders who participate in such engagements often seek both spiritual renewal and community support.

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous nation, has a long history of leaders who publicly acknowledge their faith as a guiding principle. From early post-independence leaders to contemporary political figures, faith has often been intertwined with leadership, providing moral direction and a sense of accountability. Musa’s testimony continues this tradition, linking personal conviction with national service.

Musa’s highlights on overcoming adversity resonates with many Nigerians who face challenges in their daily lives. By framing trials as opportunities for growth and relying on God’s guidance, he encouraged citizens to remain patient, resilient, and focused on constructive actions.

In addition to spiritual encouragement, the minister also highlighted the importance of national unity. He called on Nigerians to support leaders, engage positively in community development, and contribute to national progress. “We are stronger together” Musa said.
