The eldest brother of the former music duo, P-Square, Henry Okoye, has expressed doubts about the possibility of Peter and Paul Okoye resolving their long-running disagreement, saying the dispute may have caused lasting damage to their relationship.
Henry, who spoke about the family crisis during an interview with social commentator Jos Connection at their father’s residence in Plateau State on Friday, said he would be happy to see the twins reunite but was not confident that they would return to the close relationship they once shared.
He, however, appealed to Paul, popularly known as Rudeboy, to forgive his twin brother, Peter, also known as Mr P, and work towards ending the family feud.
Henry said Peter had made efforts to settle the disagreement but suggested that Paul’s attitude towards the family had changed significantly over the years.
“Peter is trying. I don’t know if Jude used juju on Paul because he was the nicest person in the family before. But the way he changed is surprising,” he said.
Henry said he had followed Peter’s public accounts of the events that led to the renewed crisis and believed that several unresolved issues had contributed to the breakdown of the relationship between the brothers.
He also recalled disagreements over the early financial arrangements of the family, saying he was promised a share of the money when the brothers began making it in the music industry.
“They promised me 20 per cent when they start making money. Jude intervened and dismissed that. I challenged him that he wasn’t there when we started everything but now chasing everybody away from them,” Henry said.
Despite his concerns, Henry said his greatest wish was to see the family reunited.
“I will be happy for them to come back together but I don’t think it will happen. Paul was a very kind person,” he added.
The family member also appealed to Jude Okoye, who previously managed P-Square, to help restore peace among the siblings.
Henry said he had made several attempts to resolve the dispute and even sought the intervention of prominent businessman Shehu Dantata, but his efforts did not produce the desired result.
“I want all the family to come back. I have tried my best. Even Shehu Dantata spoke to them and they didn’t listen,” he said.
Henry also recalled a personal financial matter involving Peter and Jude. He said Peter had once directed him to Jude over money he believed was being held on his behalf.
He said the incident happened after the death of Peter’s father-in-law, when he complained about being left behind in Jos while other members of the family were together.
According to Henry, Peter told him to approach Jude because he was the one holding his money.
He further appealed to Paul to forgive Peter, recalling the support he said Peter gave him when he was hospitalised.
The latest intervention comes against the background of years of disagreement among the Okoye brothers, which has repeatedly affected the future of P-Square, one of Nigeria’s most successful music groups.
Peter and Paul rose to fame as P-Square and became major figures in the Nigerian and African music industry, producing several hit songs and albums and building a large following at home and abroad.
Their success was also closely linked to the roles played by members of their family, particularly Jude, who served as the group’s manager.
However, tensions within the family eventually affected the music partnership.
The first major split between Peter and Paul occurred in 2017. The twins went their separate ways and pursued solo careers after years of working together.
Their split disappointed many fans, who had grown accustomed to seeing the brothers perform together.
The twins eventually reconciled in 2021, creating fresh excitement among their fans and raising hopes that the disagreements that caused their separation had been settled.
The reunion saw the brothers return to the stage as P-Square and resume joint musical activities.
However, the peace did not last.
The relationship between the brothers deteriorated again in 2024, with Peter and Paul once again exchanging public accusations.
The latest dispute also involved their elder brother, Jude, who had managed P-Square during the group’s active years.
Peter accused Paul and Jude of working together against him and raised questions about the management of the group’s finances.
Among the issues raised by Peter was the alleged existence of Northside Music Limited, a company he claimed was receiving royalties belonging to P-Square.
Peter alleged that the company was linked to Jude and his wife and questioned the handling of income generated from the group’s music.
Paul, however, defended Jude and rejected Peter’s position. He also accused Peter of being responsible for the legal problems facing their elder brother.
In February 2025, Paul said he was supporting Jude because he believed his elder brother knew the truth about the issues surrounding the dispute.
The matter later moved beyond public exchanges to the courtroom.
Jude was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations involving N1.38 billion, $1 million and £34,537.59. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Peter subsequently appeared as a witness in the case and made allegations concerning the management of P-Square’s finances.
During his testimony, Peter alleged that Jude secretly incorporated Northside Music Limited and used the company to collect royalties belonging to P-Square.
The financial dispute has continued before the courts.
In February 2026, Peter made an admission during cross-examination that appeared to differ from an earlier position concerning the ownership and control of the Northside Entertainment Limited account.
He admitted that he was a co-signatory to the account, despite previously saying that Jude was the sole signatory.
The development added another layer to the financial disagreement that has remained at the centre of the family dispute.
Beyond the court proceedings, the disagreement has continued to play out publicly, with Peter and Paul giving different accounts of what caused the latest breakdown and the role Jude played in the collapse of their partnership.
For fans of P-Square, the dispute has been a source of disappointment, particularly because the brothers had successfully overcome their first major split and reunited in 2021.
Henry’s latest comments show that the disagreement remains a major concern within the family.
While he admitted that he was not optimistic about another reconciliation, he said he had forgiven his siblings and continued to hope that the family would eventually resolve its differences.
His appeal to Paul to forgive Peter also reflects the wider calls from fans and members of the public for the twins to settle their differences and restore their relationship.
Whether that happens remains uncertain.
For now, P-Square’s future as a group appears closely tied to the ability of Peter and Paul to settle their personal and financial disagreements, while the legal dispute involving Jude continues to add pressure to an already strained family relationship.
