Psquare Crisis: Why My Brother, Peter, Is After Me – Jude Okoye

    Share

Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager of the famous Nigerian music duo, Psquare, has declared that he is done trying to mediate in the ongoing feud between his twin brothers, Peter and Paul Okoye. The once inseparable pair, who rose to fame together as Psquare, first fell out in 2017 to pursue solo careers. While they briefly reconciled in November 2021, their reunion was short-lived, and tensions have since resurfaced.

The latest fallout between the brothers has become a public spectacle, drawing widespread attention and concern from fans. Recently, Paul Okoye accused his brother Peter of orchestrating his arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), a serious claim that has further strained their already fragile relationship. In response, Peter denied the allegations and fired back with accusations of his own, claiming that Jude had siphoned millions of dollars from their joint account into a secret company.

This public quarrel has disheartened many fans who have long admired the duo’s music and strong family bond. As the feud deepens, numerous fans have called on Jude to step in and mediate between his younger brothers, urging him to help restore peace within the family. However, Jude has made it clear that he is no longer willing to be dragged into their dispute.

During a recent Instagram Live session, Jude expressed his frustration with being repeatedly entangled in the brothers’ disagreements. He dismissed Peter’s fraud allegations, stating that Peter had twisted the situation to make it appear fraudulent. Jude also suggested that Peter’s decision to involve him in the controversy was a strategic move, knowing that the public would likely blame him for not resolving the conflict between the twins.

“Why is it that Peter always involves me in their fight?” Jude questioned during the live session. “It is because he had the impression that people would always call Jude, the elder one, to say ‘go and settle your brothers, go and put your family in order.’ But what do you mean by ‘put your family in order’? My family is in order. Let them put their family in order.”

Jude went on to express his exhaustion from years of trying to mediate between Peter and Paul. He claimed to have sacrificed himself in his efforts to mend the rift within the family but now believes that it is up to the twins to resolve their issues on their own. He urged them to take responsibility for their actions and focus on putting their affairs in order, particularly their business dealings.

“If they are doing business together, let them put it in order. I have tried to the point I sacrificed myself,” Jude said, clearly indicating his decision to step back from the ongoing conflict.

Jude also pointed out that both Peter and Paul are now fathers, with children who are teenagers. He noted that if they were in America, they would already be grandfathers, stressing the importance of maturity and responsibility at this stage in their lives. His comments reflect a deep sense of disappointment and a desire for his brothers to move beyond their differences for the sake of their families and careers.

The rift between Peter and Paul has been a subject of intense media scrutiny, especially given the immense success they achieved together as Psquare. Their music dominated the African music scene for years, with hit songs and sold-out concerts across the continent. However, their personal and professional differences have repeatedly brought their collaboration to a halt, leaving fans disillusioned and longing for the duo’s return.

The current dispute escalated after Paul revealed in an interview that the group had broken up once again. He accused Peter of involving him and their elder brother, Jude, in a case with the EFCC over alleged fraudulent dealings. This revelation has only added fuel to the fire, intensifying the public fallout between the brothers.

In response, Peter wrote an open letter to Paul, accusing him of tarnishing his image and alleging that Paul and Jude had conspired to defraud him. The accusations have created a deep divide within the family, making reconciliation seem increasingly unlikely.

For Jude, the situation has become unbearable. After years of trying to keep the peace and mediate between his younger brothers, he has reached his limit. In his Instagram Live session, Jude made it clear that he believes the twins should now take it upon themselves to resolve their issues, without relying on him to step in.

“These people [Peter and Paul] have children that are teenagers. If they were in America, they would be grandfathers now,” Jude remarked, highlighting the need for maturity and self-accountability in resolving the ongoing conflict.
