    Mr Project: Wike’s Appointment As Minister, One Of The Best Ever – Tinubu

    President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on Wednesday, described the Federal Capital Territory minister, Nyesom Wike, as a force of nature in the realm of leadership.

    He also commended the former Rivers State governor for his pivotal role in the country’s infrastructural development.

    The President, who was represented by Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, spoke at the commissioning of the Inner Southern Expressway (ISEX) extension in Abuja.

    The road project is a significant project aimed at enhancing connectivity within the FCT.

    The president said, “Love him or hate him, you cannot ignore him,” even as he underlined Wike’s relentless drive to redefine leadership in Nigeria.

    The President praised Wike as one of the best appointments in the history of Nigeria’s democratic governance. Despite initial opposition to Wike’s appointment, Tinubu pointed out that even his critics are now applauding his achievements.

    The extension project, which spans from the Outer Southern Expressway to the Southern Parkway, is part of a broader initiative to improve infrastructure in Abuja.

    This project, Tinubu noted, represents a commitment to transforming Nigeria’s infrastructure, which he described as the “arteries through which our economy thrives and our people connect.”

    Wike, in his address, expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his unwavering support in completing various projects within the FCT.

    He highlighted that under the President’s guidance, the FCT Administration had embarked on significant road rehabilitations across various districts, transforming previously dilapidated areas into modern, functional spaces.

    “It is important to let you know,” Wike stated, “that it is because of our administration’s efforts that the streets of Abuja now have a new look.”

    The Minister provided details about the ISEX extension project, revealing that it was initially awarded in 2010 at a cost of ₦17 billion but was reviewed to ₦18 billion in 2023.

    He assured that the contractor had been fully paid, thanks to the President’s directive to complete all ongoing projects under the renewed hope agenda.

    “The residents of Abuja can now witness the new face of the FCT,” Wike.

    Wike also assured that the second phase of the project, awarded by the previous administration, would be completed, highlighting its potential to significantly alter Abuja’s landscape.

    “Mr. President, I can tell you that this project is key to changing Abuja’s landscape. When it is completed, with its ten bridges, it will transform our city,” he added.

    Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, Minister of State for the FCT, echoed the sentiments of appreciation for the President and the National Assembly’s support for the FCT Administration.

    She highlighted the benefits of the ISEX extension, noting that it would enhance connectivity, save time on the road, and improve the quality of life for FCT residents.

    The Executive Secretary of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA), Engr. Shehu Hadi Ahmed, provided an overview of the project.

    He explained that the ISEX extension would facilitate rapid east-to-west movement on the city’s southern flank, linking motorists to the Abuja/Keffi road.

    The extension of the Inner Southern Expressway is expected to bring significant benefits to the region, contributing to the overall development and modernization of Abuja.
