Officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) apprehended suspects who were about to ingest 200 wraps of cocaine on Wednesday, before travelling to Saudi Arabia on pilgrimage.
According to the NDLEA official X.com account, @ndlea_nigeriathe suspects were arrested in a Lagos hotel while preparing to swallow cocaine ahead of their flight to Saudi Arabia.
The NDLEA official X.com handle quoted the Chairman of the anti-drug agency, Buba Marwa, as saying, “We’ll continue to track, trace and apprehend those using pilgrimage as cover for drug trafficking.”
NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy for the agency, Femi Babafemi, also shared details of the raid on X.com.
He wrote, “Caught in the Act: They were preparing to swallow 200 wraps of cocaine ahead of their flight to the ongoing hajj in Saudi Arabia Wednesday night and officers stormed their hotel rooms in an intel-led ops.”
