The founder and General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor Williams Kumuyi, has debunked rumours about his supposed relocation to the United Kingdom.
He clarified that his recent travels are part of his global crusade, which highlights the expansive impact of his ministry, and not indicative of a permanent move.
These speculations gained traction in May after Sam Adeyemi, the Senior Pastor of Daystar Christian Centre returned from an extensive stay in the US.
The 83-year-old Kumuyi, during a church service shared on the church’s official Facebook page, tackled these rumours head-on.
Pastor Kumuyi explained how his recent travels through various countries, combined with significant time differences between these countries and Nigeria, make it impractical to transmit his activities back home.
His global crusade, which included visits to countries like the United Arab Emirates, required adjustments and rest periods due to the demanding travel schedules.
“You must have read that I relocated to the UK. Did I relocate?” Kumuyi questioned in the video. “I did not relocate anywhere. But because I went for crusade and conference, and since the conference and crusade is not being transmitted here, we do it over there.”
He elaborated on the time differences, citing an example: “Some countries I visit, like the one I visited in May, have about a seven-hour time difference.
“When it is 7 a.m. here, it will be 2 a.m. in another country. There is no way I could transmit that here because of the time difference.”
Kumuyi recounted his travel itinerary, mentioning how he journeyed from Aba, Nigeria, to the Philippines, Dubai, and other cities in the UAE.
He explained that he needed to rest, which led to a short trip to the UK.
He said, “It was a long trip, and after that long trip, I jumped into the plane and went here and there.
“After those trips, I needed a few days to rest so I would not come back weary, tired, and could not preach again.
“So I waited. And because I spent that time, they told you I have relocated.”
The influential pastor emphasised that the claims about his relocation were misleading and urged his congregation to dismiss these rumours.
He reaffirmed his commitment to their spiritual well-being and the truth of the Word of God.
Kumuyi also expressed surprise that some church members believed the rumours, recounting an instance where a member addressed a letter to the UK church branch, assuming he had relocated there.
He called on his followers to focus on the truth and disregard such unfounded claims.
