The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the onboarding of an additional 16 state-owned tertiary institutions to its Student Loan Applications Portal.

A statement issued on X.com on Thursday announced the onboarding.

This recent addition brings the total number of state-owned institutions participating in the NELFUND student loan program to 86, further expanding the program’s reach and impact.

Students from the newly onboarded institutions can now apply for student loans by logging onto the NELFUND portal at [nelf.gov.ng](http://nelf.gov.ng).

NELFUND is also urging institutions that have not yet submitted accurate and complete student data to do so promptly to ensure their students can benefit from the program.

In May, NELFUND acknowledged the difficulties some students encountered with the Student Loan Application portal.

The fund provided detailed solutions to the various challenges and advised students whose institutions were not listed on the portal to contact their school’s ICT department.

“This step aims to ensure that all eligible institutions are included in the portal, allowing more students to apply for loans without hindrance,” the fund said.

As a result of these challenges, the Fund had limited the rollout phase of the student loan program to federal institutions, leaving students from state-owned institutions temporarily unable to apply.

NELFUND advised such students to hold on for further announcements as the program would expand to include state-owned institutions in subsequent phases.
