Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya, widely known as MC Oluomo, has been elected as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

The election took place on Saturday during the Nineteen Quadrennial Delegates Conference at the NURTW Zone 2 headquarters in Osogbo, Osun State.

MC Oluomo’s victory comes as no surprise to many in the union, especially in the Southwest, where he has garnered strong support for his contributions to NURTW’s growth.

After the election, MC Oluomo was sworn in as the new national president of the NURTW.

Other executive officers were also chosen during the conference, which was led by chairmen from Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, and Ekiti States.

Ekiti State NURTW Chairman, Chief Joseph Falope, who nominated Akinsanya for the presidency, expressed confidence in his leadership.

“All the branches in the Southwest region stand behind Alhaji Musiliu Akinsanya because of his outstanding contributions to the union across the country,” Falope stated.

Ademola Ojude from Ondo State, who seconded the nomination, added that MC Oluomo’s achievements in Lagos State speak for themselves.

MC Oluomo’s election follows a zoning decision by the NURTW, which allocated the presidency to the Southwest region.

Acting National President Aliyu Isa, represented by NURTW National Headquarters Finance Head Mrs. Salami Oyeyode Adedamola, praised the decision, stating that it followed the union’s constitution.

“The delegates in the Southwest have chosen a new leader to guide us nationally,” she said.

The conference attracted notable leaders from the union, and attendees highlighted the importance of unity and collaboration within the NURTW.

In his acceptance speech, MC Oluomo thanked the union for their support, calling for peace and unity among members.

“I am grateful for this opportunity to serve our union at the national level,” he said.
