The Ogun State Police Command has declared popular but controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, widely known as Portable, wanted for allegedly assaulting government officials.
The police revealed that the incident occurred on February 5, 2025, when officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office, were on an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.
According to the police, the officials—identified as TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were carrying out their lawful duties when they encountered an elderly man who was later identified as Portable’s father.
The officials reportedly introduced themselves and requested the approved building plan for the property. Portable’s father informed them that his son was unavailable at that moment.
However, shortly after this encounter, Portable allegedly arrived at the scene armed with a firearm and other dangerous weapons. Accompanied by nine thugs, he reportedly launched a violent attack on the unarmed government officials.
The officials were said to have sustained various bodily injuries but managed to escape and later reported the incident to the Ota Area Command. The case was subsequently escalated to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
Police Issue Arrest Warrant
In a statement issued by the Ogun State Police Command, the Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and announced that Portable was declared wanted for his involvement in the violent attack.
“The Ogun State Police Command hereby declares Habeeb Okikiola Olalomi, popularly known as ‘Portable’, wanted for his involvement in a violent attack on government officials carrying out their lawful duties,” Odutola said.
The statement further disclosed that nine accomplices were arrested at the scene, but Portable managed to flee and has since gone into hiding.
The police spokesperson noted that multiple formal invitations were sent to Portable, requesting his presence at the Ogun State Police Command Headquarters in Eleweran, Abeokuta.
However, he allegedly ignored all invitations without any legal representation, prompting the police to obtain a valid court order to declare him wanted.
Public Urged to Assist Police
The Ogun State Police Command has urged members of the public to assist in locating Portable. They warned that anyone found aiding or harboring the musician would face legal consequences.
“Members of the public are strongly advised to assist the police by providing any valuable information that can lead to his immediate arrest,” the statement read.
The police also provided contact details for the public to report any relevant information to the nearest police station or through official communication channels.
Portable’s Controversial History
Portable is no stranger to controversy. Since rising to fame in Nigeria’s music scene, the artist has been involved in several public disputes and altercations.
He is known for his outspoken nature and has often made headlines for confrontations with fellow artists and social media rants.
This latest incident has, however, taken a more serious turn as it involves allegations of violence against government officials.
Police Intensify Search
The Ogun State Police Command has intensified its search efforts to bring Portable to justice. They reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the law takes its course.
CSP Omolola Odutola stated, “We are committed to upholding the law and ensuring that justice prevails. No one is above the law, and Portable must face the consequences of his actions if found guilty.”
As the search continues, the public remains keenly interested in how the case will unfold. Will Portable surrender to the police, or will the manhunt intensify?
One thing is certain: this dramatic saga is far from over.
