The chairman of the Kiru local government area council, Kano State, Abdullahi Mohammed, has landed in fresh trouble for allegedly selling land designated for the Kafin Maiyaki Mini Stadium.
However, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission has arrested the chairman.
According to the anti-graft agency’s Public Relations Officer, Kabir Abba Kabir, the land was sold to a company identified as Mahasum for more than ₦100 million.
Abba Kabir who confirmed the arrest, revealed that Mohammed’s account received a total of ₦240 million between November 1, 2024, when he assumed office, and February 27, 2025, saying the commission has since recovered the funds.
Mohammed is said to be cooperating with investigators as authorities worked to uncover the full details of the transaction and ensure accountability.
Reaffirming its commitment to transparency and the fight against corruption, the commission stated that the suspect remained in custody as investigations continued.
