The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has suspended Alhaji Kabir Sani-Giant, Special Adviser to Governor Nasir Idris on Power and Politics, following an incident in which he allegedly brought a snake to the Kebbi State Government House.
In a statement released on Sunday, February 8, 2025, the APC’s Secretary, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad-Kimba, confirmed the suspension of Sani-Giant, saying the action was “immediately” taken due to the shocking nature of the event.
Sani-Giant, a prominent figure in the state government, reportedly brought a snake to the Government House, which caused significant unease among government officials, dignitaries, and other distinguished guests who were present at the time. This act reportedly made many feel uncomfortable and even intimidated, raising concerns about safety and propriety in the workplace.
According to Muhammad-Kimba’s statement, the party viewed Sani-Giant’s actions as a violation of the APC’s constitution and an embarrassment to the party. He stressed that such conduct could discredit the APC, a political party that prides itself on upholding the values of respect, integrity, and responsible leadership.
“The party believes that his conduct was highly inappropriate and offensive. It has the potential to cause harm to the party’s image and public trust,” Muhammad-Kimba said in the statement.
The suspension of Sani-Giant is said to be pending further investigation into the matter. The party has made it clear that further disciplinary action could be taken depending on the results of the inquiry, and if such behaviour continues, it could lead to expulsion from the party.
