Papal Conclave to Begin May 7

    Share

The Holy See Press Office has announced that the conclave to elect a new Pope will begin on May 7, 2025. This decision was made by the Cardinals during their fifth General Congregation on Monday.

The conclave, where Cardinals gather to choose a new leader of the Catholic Church, will take place in the Vatican’s Sistine Chapel. During the conclave, the chapel will be closed to visitors to maintain security and privacy.

This election process follows the vacancy left by the resignation of the previous Pope, and the conclave is expected to attract significant global attention as the Cardinals deliberate on the future leader of the Church.

The conclave process is a sacred tradition, and the election of a new Pope is one of the most important events within the Catholic Church. The Cardinals will meet in strict confidentiality, and once a new Pope is elected, the announcement will be made through the traditional white smoke rising from the chimney of the Sistine Chapel.

As the date for the conclave draws closer, Catholics worldwide are awaiting news of who will be chosen to lead the global Church.
