Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed hope that former Governor James Ibori will join the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing it as a welcome development.
He made the remark on Tuesday during a vigil mass in honour of the late former Deputy Governor, Professor Amos Utuama, held at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Otu-Jeremi, Ughelli South Local Government Area.
Oborevwori used the occasion to call for unity among the Urhobo political class, urging leaders to work together for peace and progress in the region.
Paying tribute to the late Prof. Utuama, the governor praised his selfless contributions to both the Church and the state. He recalled how Utuama donated his allocated land in Asaba to the Catholic Church and supported the church’s development, calling it a “kingdom investment.”
“He lived well and died well,” Oborevwori said, praying that Utuama’s death would bring peace and unity to Ughelli South and the Urhobo nation at large.
Also speaking, the Bishop of Warri Diocese, Most Rev. Anthony Ewherido, described Utuama as a man of godliness, humility, and charity. He urged the family and community to uphold his legacy.
Speaking on behalf of the family, Mr. Ovie Utuama thanked all attendees for their support and prayers during the mourning period.
