Senator Sani Musa, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, has announced that Nigerian workers earning less than N1 million annually will soon be exempt from paying taxes.
The Senator made the announcement in Minna, Niger State, following the Workers’ Day celebration. He revealed that the tax reform bills, which include this exemption, will be presented to the National Assembly next week for approval.
“The Tax Reform Bills are ready for presentation before the National Assembly next week,” Senator Musa stated. “Once passed, any worker earning below N1 million annually will no longer be required to pay tax.”
The Senator explained that the reform aims to reward the hard work of Nigerian employees, with support from key labor organizations such as the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC).
Musa also commented on the economic policies of the Tinubu administration, acknowledging that they may bring short-term challenges but will yield long-term benefits for ordinary Nigerians.
At the Workers’ Day event, which was attended by Niger State Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago, Senator Musa encouraged Nigerians to continue supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government to ensure its success.
