The Cross River State Government has directed all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to submit a comprehensive list of government-owned assets under their custody by May 23, 2025.

This directive, approved by Governor Senator Bassey Otu and the State Executive Council, is part of efforts to ensure effective management of the state’s public assets. The move aims to prevent the misuse, unlawful possession, and abandonment of government properties, which have led to significant loss of resources.

Gilbert Agbor, Special Adviser to the Governor on Asset Management and Recovery, emphasized the importance of the directive, urging all MDAs to handle the task with urgency and seriousness. “Governor Otu attaches great importance to this exercise,” Agbor said.

Prof. Peter Oti, the Governor’s Economic Adviser, stressed that inventorying government assets is crucial for their proper use and to ensure they benefit the public. He reassured that the Otu administration is committed to prudent resource management.

The Head of Service, Dr. Innocent Eteng, also backed the directive, promising that his office would collaborate with MDAs to meet the May 23 deadline. He highlighted that the compilation must follow a structured format with proper asset identification codes.
