Suspended Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has returned to Port Harcourt after a two-week vacation in Germany. He landed at the international wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, around 7 PM on Friday, where he was received by his aides.
A viral video shows Fubara being escorted to a waiting vehicle, which quickly sped off. It was also reported that, during his time overseas, Fubara had a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu in London, United Kingdom.
The suspension of Governor Fubara, along with his deputy, Prof. Ngozi Odu, and members of the Rivers State House of Assembly, was announced by President Tinubu following an escalation in militant attacks on oil pipelines in the state. The move came amid rising tensions between the governor and the 27 lawmakers, with references made to the influence of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
