A Spanish-Brazilian man, Marcus Monzo, will stand trial on June 3 for the alleged murder of 14-year-old Nigerian boy, Daniel Anjorin, in the United Kingdom. The trial is scheduled at the Central Criminal Court of England and Wales, also known as the Old Bailey.

Monzo, 37, is accused of killing Anjorin during a knife attack in Hainault, North-East London, on April 30, 2024. The teenager was reportedly slashed in the chest and neck with two Japanese swords while on his way to school.

In addition to the murder of Anjorin, Monzo is also facing charges for a series of violent attacks. He allegedly assaulted four other individuals in a 20-minute rampage, using knives, including a katana sword and a tanto katana sword. The police also allege that Monzo wounded a police inspector during his attack.

Monzo has pleaded not guilty to the murder of Anjorin and the attempted murders of four other people. However, he admitted to possessing the offensive weapons involved in the attacks. He also denied charges of aggravated burglary and possession of a bladed article, including a kitchen knife.

Earlier, it was reported that Monzo crashed a van into a fence in Laing Close, hitting a pedestrian, Donato Iwule. He was seen wielding a sword and attacking pedestrians at the scene. Anjorin, after being rushed to the hospital, tragically died from his injuries.
