Police in Bauchi State have uncovered an illegal herbicide production operation in Inkil, a suburb of Bauchi metropolis, arresting four suspects in the process.
The state Police Command, through its spokesperson CSP Ahmed Wakil, said the raid was carried out on May 3, 2025, around 1:30 p.m., following credible intelligence. Officers from the Command’s Monitoring Unit stormed a residential property in Unguwan Liman, where the fake products were being produced.
“The suspects were caught in the act,” Wakil told reporters. “A large quantity of counterfeit materials was seized during the raid.”
Items recovered include 26 cartons labeled “Force Up”, a carton of “Gobora”, two drums containing suspicious liquid, 100 empty one-litre containers, sealing tapes, scissors, glue, charcoal, welding tools, and other packaging materials.
The suspects reportedly named a 36-year-old man from Fadaman Mada as the leader of the operation. He was later tracked and arrested by police.
All suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue to trace the full network behind the counterfeit herbicide operation.
Wakil assured the public that the police are determined to clamp down on criminal activities that endanger public safety and undermine trust in agricultural products.
