PWD Rail Crossing Closure Shifted to May 14

The Lagos State Government has postponed the planned closure of the PWD Rail Crossing in Ikeja to Tuesday, May 14, 2025. The closure was earlier scheduled for May 1.

In a statement released on Sunday, Mrs Bolanle Ogunlola, Deputy Director of Public Affairs at the Ministry of Transportation, said the decision was made to give road users enough time to prepare and adjust their travel plans.

“We understand the impact such closures can have and want to minimise inconvenience to road users as much as possible,” she said.

The rail crossing closure is part of ongoing railway modernisation works aimed at improving infrastructure and ensuring the safety of both road and train users.

Ogunlola confirmed that all earlier-announced alternative routes remain valid and will be in use throughout the closure period. She urged motorists to obey traffic officers and follow diversion signs that will be placed at key locations.
