Natasha Praises Tinubu on TikTok, Fuels Defection Speculation

    Share

Suspended Kogi Central Senator, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has stirred political controversy after posting a TikTok video praising President Bola Tinubu, prompting speculation she may be planning to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

In the 15-second clip that quickly went viral on Saturday, the senator is seen smiling and playing a song by pro-Tinubu singer Dauda Kahutu Rarara titled Asiwaju Omo Ologo, meaning Asiwaju the Glorious Child. The song was originally performed during Tinubu’s recent visit to Katsina.

The video has left many of her supporters puzzled, especially considering her current suspension from the Senate and ongoing tensions with the chamber’s leadership.

Akpoti-Uduaghan was suspended on March 6 after alleging that the Senate’s new seating arrangement was an attempt to sideline her. The situation escalated when she accused Senate President Godswill Akpabio of retaliation after she allegedly rejected his sexual advances.

During a UN session in New York, she called for global intervention against what she described as intimidation by the Nigerian Senate. Her punishment included a six-month suspension, salary cuts, and loss of security.

Though a court has barred both Akpoti-Uduaghan and Akpabio from discussing the matter publicly until the legal case is resolved, the senator recently shared a sarcastic “Apology Letter” directed at Akpabio’s office — further intensifying public interest.

Her TikTok video, however, has added a new twist, with political observers questioning whether it signals a soft landing or an imminent move to the ruling party. As of press time, she has not commented officially on the speculation.
