A shocking case of murder has emerged in Owehlogbo, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State, where the manager of Century Home Hotel has confessed to killing a 22-year-old Point-of-Sale (PoS) operator, Onoriode Bethel.
Bethel had been declared missing since December 13, 2024. After months of uncertainty, the truth surfaced when the hotel manager, identified simply as Iboirode, admitted to luring the young woman into the hotel under the pretense of resolving a money issue — only to kill her and secretly bury her within the hotel premises.
According to Delta State Police spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, the suspect killed Bethel in retaliation after she confronted him over a fake bank alert used to defraud her of N10,000. Though she later recovered the money, the suspect allegedly felt humiliated.
Further investigations revealed disturbing details. The suspect’s wife confessed that she knew about the killing. She told police her husband lured Bethel into the hotel around 7 p.m. and later informed her that he had killed the girl.
The situation took an even darker turn when the suspect used Bethel’s phone to call her father, demanding ransom, and accessed her PoS account after forcing her to reveal her password.
Bethel’s body was finally discovered on the hotel compound following the suspect’s arrest in March 2025, during investigations into another case — the death of a guest, Pastor Sunday Ogofohta.
