    Tragedy Strikes in Rivers as Car Kills Four Pedestrians

    Four people were confirmed dead after a vehicle rammed into a group of pedestrians along G.U. Ake Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, around midnight on Monday.

    According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Grace Iringe-Koko, the accident occurred when a Toyota Camry with registration number ABJ 10 EM lost control and hit six people walking along the road.

    “The driver, Benson Peter Michael, 36, collided with six pedestrians. Four of them died on the spot, while two others were rushed to Braithwaite Memorial Hospital for treatment,” she said in a statement.

    Iringe-Koko confirmed that the driver has been arrested and is currently in police custody. The vehicle has also been recovered and taken to the police station.

    The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) mortuary. The police said the case would be transferred to the State Traffic Department for further investigation.
