A tragic mid-air collision involving two helicopters has claimed the lives of several people in Finland. The helicopters, carrying a total of five passengers, collided and crashed near Helsinki on Saturday afternoon, according to Finnish police.
While the exact number of victims is still being confirmed, reports indicate that the helicopters were carrying businessmen who had taken off from Estonia. Three people were in one helicopter, while the other carried two.
Witnesses reported seeing one helicopter hit the other during a maneuver, causing one to drop rapidly to the ground. The other helicopter descended more slowly, but both crashed before anyone could respond. No sounds of the collision were heard, according to witness Antti Marjanen, who was near the scene.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the cause of the crash, but investigations are underway. The identities of the victims remain to be disclosed.
