The Katsina State Police Command has neutralized a notorious bandit, Audu Kushin of Tsamiyar Maigoro village, and rescued five kidnapped victims following a gun battle in Malumfashi Local Government Area.
This was revealed in a statement on Saturday by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Aliyu. He said the police received a distress call around 10:15 p.m. on May 22, reporting an attack on Unguwar Lado and Karo villages by suspected bandits.
“Operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) quickly responded and engaged the attackers in a gun duel. One of the bandits, identified as Audu Kushin, was shot dead during the exchange,” Aliyu said.
The five kidnapped victims were rescued, though they sustained gunshot injuries from the assailants. They were rushed to General Hospital Malumfashi for treatment.
Aliyu noted that efforts are ongoing to track and arrest the fleeing suspects. He also urged residents to continue providing useful information to help the police tackle crime in the state.
