Popular Nigerian dancer and singer, Korra Obidi, has come under heavy criticism on social media after she revealed she was nearly removed from a flight due to her choice of clothing.
The US-based entertainer shared the incident in a Facebook video over the weekend, stating that airline staff told her to cover up or risk being taken off a flight to Atlanta. In the video, Obidi is seen wearing a pink, revealing outfit that left little to the imagination.
“I was almost kicked off the plane for this outfit. Be honest, was this airline doing the most?” she captioned the video, which has since gone viral and stirred controversy online.
Many Nigerians on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram expressed disapproval, particularly pointing to her role as a mother.
Another X (formerly Twitter) user, @iam\_kennyjay, wrote: “You’re a mother, dress like it. Everything no be content.”
User @AdunniSaid added: “It’s not about fashion. There’s a time and place for everything. This is a public flight, not a music video shoot.”
One Facebook user, Ndimele Shulammite, commented: “You self try to dey dress well nah, no be Athena skirt you wear so. Na wa oh.”
Some, however, defended the entertainer, arguing that the backlash was unnecessary. “Let people dress how they want. If the airline had a problem, they should state their policy clearly,” said @AfroBella\_ on X.
Korra Obidi, who rose to fame through dance and social media, has often sparked debates with her bold fashion choices and outspoken personality. The mother of two has consistently shared parts of her life online, including her performances, motherhood journey, and personal experiences.
Despite the criticism, she has not issued any apology or change of stance, and the video remains on her official Facebook page.
The airline involved has yet to issue a statement on the incident.
