Team Delta has once again shown its strength in Nigerian sports by winning the 22nd edition of the National Sports Festival (NSF), which was held in Ogun State.
The event, known as the Gateway Games 2024, was officially opened by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on May 18. It brought together thousands of athletes from across Nigeria to compete in various sporting events.
After days of tough competition, Delta State was declared the overall winner of the festival. This victory continues Delta’s strong record in the NSF, where it has regularly topped the medal table in recent years.
The National Sports Festival is Nigeria’s biggest multi-sport event, often seen as the country’s version of the Olympics. It provides a platform for young athletes to showcase their talents and possibly earn spots on national teams.
This year’s edition in Ogun featured both seasoned and upcoming stars, and it highlighted the growing importance of sports in promoting unity and youth development across Nigeria.
