    UN Staff Member Abducted in Jos North, Plateau State

    A United Nations (UN) staff member, Emmanuel Yusuf Sabo, was abducted by gunmen on Saturday, May 31, around 9:00 p.m. in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State. Sabo, 45, was reportedly returning home from work when the incident occurred along Godwin Street in the State Low-Cost area. His younger brother, Ezekiel Sabo, promptly reported the abduction to the police the following morning.

    The kidnapping has raised concerns about the safety of humanitarian workers in the region. Security agencies have expressed commitment to ensuring the safe return of the victim and bringing the perpetrators to justice.

    In a swift response to the abduction, Plateau State Police operatives intercepted Sabo’s vehicle in the early hours of Sunday, June 1, at approximately 3:40 a.m. in Manguna, Bokkos Local Government Area. The suspected kidnapper, who was driving the vehicle, abandoned it upon sighting the police and fled into a nearby bush. The vehicle was recovered and secured by the authorities.

    This development has provided a lead in the ongoing investigation, and security forces are intensifying efforts to locate and rescue the abducted UN staff member.
