In a disturbing turn of events, police in Enugu State have uncovered what appears to be a ritual site during a raid on a church construction site linked to a suspected pastor, Prophet Chinedu Solomon Ezedike. The shocking discovery included a human skull and ritual items believed to be connected to the gruesome murder of four siblings that recently rocked the Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area.
The police operation, led by the Divisional Police Officer of Igbo-Eze South and backed by other security agencies, took place at Abile Hill, Isi-Agu, Ibagwa-Aka. The location is the site of an ongoing church construction project allegedly owned by Ezedike, who is under serious scrutiny following his alleged involvement in the ritual killing of the four young children.
The murder of the siblings, which occurred a few weeks ago, sparked widespread outrage across Enugu State and beyond. In response to public pressure and the gravity of the crime, the Enugu State Government swiftly demolished the building where the killings reportedly took place. However, the search for justice did not stop there.
On Monday, the Chairman of Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area, Barr. Ferdinand Ukwueze, confirmed the latest raid in a statement posted on his official Facebook page. He revealed that the operation was part of a broader effort to uncover criminal hideouts and suspicious religious centres within the council area.
“Two days ago, acting on credible intelligence, I visited a site at Abile Hill, Isi-Agu, Ibagwa-Aka, in the company of the Divisional Police Officer of Igbo-Eze South and other security operatives,” Ukwueze stated. “The location, currently under construction as Prophet Chinedu Ezedike’s so-called Synagogue, was discovered to be a suspected site for ritual activities.”
According to him, a human skull and a ritual staff were found at the site and handed over to the police for further investigation.
“This horrifying discovery lends more credibility to the disturbing claims and allegations against Ezedike. More of such hidden locations will be uncovered and investigated as part of our relentless effort to cleanse our land of evil,” he added.
Ukwueze reassured residents that under the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, Enugu State would not tolerate crime or harbour those who practice evil under the disguise of religion.
“I want to clearly state that there will be no hiding place for criminals of any kind in Igbo-Eze South or anywhere in Enugu State. We are determined to build a safe, just, and progressive society where every child can grow without fear,” he said.
The council boss also appreciated the support and coordination of the Nigeria Police, Department of State Services (DSS), the military, local neighbourhood watch groups, and forest guards, all of whom have contributed intelligence and manpower to the ongoing crackdown on ritualists and other criminal elements.
Ukwueze emphasized that communities must not stay silent in the face of evil. “Society continues to rot when good people choose to keep quiet. We must all rise together to protect our land,” he said.
In an earlier statement, the council chairman confirmed the demolition of Ezedike’s former building, which he described as “a stronghold of evil.”
“We stood with the good people of Ibagwa-Aka and brought down the stronghold of Prophet Chinedu Solomon Ezedike, linked to the heartbreaking murder of four innocent siblings,” he wrote.
The Enugu State Government and security agencies say the investigation is ongoing and more suspects could be arrested in connection to the ritual killings. For now, the discovery of the human skull has deepened concerns about the activities of self-acclaimed prophets and the growing menace of ritual killings in the Southeast.
As residents continue to seek answers and justice for the slain children, the raid serves as a chilling reminder of how religious platforms are sometimes exploited for sinister purposes.
