Veteran Nigerian entertainer, Charly Boy, has revealed how women constantly chased after him despite being a married man, all because he once posed for nude photos.
The popular singer and actor, whose real name is Charles Oputa, made the revelation on his official X (formerly Twitter) account, sharing a glimpse into a bold chapter of his life. Known for his eccentric style and outspoken personality, Charly Boy said that his physique and confidence attracted plenty of attention in his younger years.
According to him, his experiences with women were similar to those of his late father, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa, a respected jurist of the Nigerian Supreme Court. Charly Boy said his father was also well-known for being fit and attractive, which made him popular with women back in his youth.
“There are times and seasons in everyone’s life,” Charly Boy wrote. “I heard stories of my beloved late father when he was single and young. He attended Achimota College in Ghana. Rumours had it that women no let the fine Bobo rest. He was always showing off his body ‘cos he was a gym rat too.”
The entertainer went on to explain that about 30 years ago, he decided to take some suggestive nude pictures to showcase his fit body. The photos, he said, stirred a lot of reactions — particularly from women, who didn’t let him be, even though they knew he was married at the time.
“Thirty years ago, I took some suggestive nude pictures because I knew I had a banging body, and the women no let me rest even when they all knew I was married. Yea! You can say, na my papa born me,” he added.
Charly Boy, often referred to as “Area Fada,” is a known advocate for youth empowerment, freedom of expression, and human rights. He rose to fame in the 1980s and 1990s for his daring fashion, controversial statements, and fearless criticism of social injustice. Despite his age, the entertainer continues to speak out on social issues, while keeping his audience entertained through personal reflections and humorous social media posts.
This latest revelation about his past photoshoot and the attention it attracted has sparked reactions online. While some fans praised his openness and confidence, others expressed surprise at the boldness of his actions during a time when such behaviour was rare among Nigerian celebrities.
Charly Boy’s post also highlighted the changing attitudes toward body image and fame in Nigeria. In today’s social media era, it is common to see celebrities and influencers sharing revealing pictures to build their brands. However, 30 years ago, such actions would have been seen as highly controversial.
Through his post, Charly Boy reminded his followers that everyone goes through different phases in life, and that confidence — whether in body or mind — can have powerful effects. His story also serves as a nod to generational traits, as he humorously noted that his father passed on not just his genes, but his charisma and physical fitness.
As always, Charly Boy continues to challenge norms and entertain his fans, proving that age is no barrier when it comes to living out loud and owning one’s story.
