Two Nigerian nationals and three Indian men have been arrested by anti-narcotics officers in Golconda, India, for drug trafficking.
The suspects, identified as Okoro Cosmos Ramsey and Chimezie Boniface Adikea, were picked up along with Veerapalli Lakshmipathi, Romi Bharat Kalyani, and Abdul Jafar Khan. They were arrested during a police raid at two separate houses.
According to the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), officers seized 20 grams of cocaine, 45 grams of MDMA, and 20 grams of ecstasy from the suspects.
Police revealed that the five men were previously jailed together in Chanchalguda prison and reconnected after their release. Cosmos and Adikea, both Nigerians, were reportedly living in Golconda where they continued drug dealings.
“They were getting cocaine and MDMA from a supplier named James, who is based in Mumbai,” an official said. “They then sold the drugs to other dealers, including Lakshmipathi.”
Investigators said Lakshmipathi, who was in Bangalore at the time, had asked his contacts in Hyderabad to purchase the drugs from Cosmos until he returned.
The group was arrested after police received a tip-off about their activities in Golconda.
All suspects are expected to face prosecution under India’s strict drug trafficking laws.
