    Akpabio’s Aide Petitions IGP Over Alleged Social Media Hacking

    Share

    Mr. Kenny Okolugbo, a former Delta State Commissioner and Special Adviser on Communications and Strategy to the President of the Senate, has petitioned the Inspector General of Police, alleging a coordinated cyberattack and defamation campaign aimed at damaging his reputation.

    In the petition submitted to the police, Okolugbo said his verified account on X (formerly Twitter) was hacked and used to post false and damaging statements. He claimed the fake post was then shared and amplified by three popular influencers — Tunde Ednut, Rufai Oseni, and Adeola Fayehun — who, he alleged, added more lies, including claims of phone cloning, voice manipulation, and secret meetings in London.

    “These allegations are not only false but technically impossible,” Okolugbo stated in his letter to the police. He added that the timing and language used by the three influencers appeared coordinated, which he said suggests a deliberate campaign to spread misinformation.

    He believes the attack was orchestrated to support claims made by Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan and discredit him in the public eye.

    Okolugbo is asking the police to:

    – Investigate the hacking and impersonation of his verified social media account;

    – Identify and prosecute those behind the false posts;

    – Secure and analyse all related digital content from social media platforms and third-party services.

    He also submitted evidence, including travel records to show he had not visited London in 2025, and that the last time he was there was in November 2024 — countering the claims of secret meetings abroad. He included copies of the posts that allegedly defamed him.

    “The situation is not just personal but also of public interest. I urge the police to act swiftly and decisively,” he said.

    As of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police Force has not officially responded to the petition.
